Hello, Yuletide writer!
First of all, I want to thank you for volunteering to write in any of these rare fandoms. I love them all so much, it will be a thrill to see any story written for them!
Second, my prompts were really just intended to provide some inspiration if you need it to get started. If you have a plotbunny of your own, go for it!
But now I will ramble on a little bit about the fandoms/characters I chose and what I love about them, in case that helps you.
Damages:
The first season of this show was possibly my favorite television series, ever. (I think the second season was weaker, but that's just relatively speaking - it's still a fabulous program.) What do I love about this show? The suspense, the clever plotting, the twists and turns, the three-dimensional characters, the nuanced-to-slightly-cynical worldview (no one on the show is truly 100% a villain or a hero, really), and probably most of all the fact that this show doesn't just pass the Bechdel test, it gets an A+.
Patty is a mesmerizing character. But I love Ellen, too, and I see the show as more about her evolution (both in the positive and negative sense) after falling into Patty's world. I think they have tremendous chemistry together. I don't really care if you opt for femslash or gen or even gen-with-femslashy-undertones, whatever works! But I think what I like the best about these two is the inherent power-struggle that underlies everything that goes on between them.
La Femme Nikita:
This show was my first fandom, and so it is still very dear to my heart! I suppose you could call me a TR (Twisted Romantic, or a Madeline/Operations shipper for those of you unfamiliar with ye olde LFN fandom acronyms), but I also like non-romance-oriented stories focusing on those two. If you are a glutton for punishment, you can even read the Ship Manifesto essay I wrote about these characters a few years back, which will give you my viewpoint in all its tl;dr glory! ;-)
I confess: I'm not really all that fond of Nikita. Or Michael. And yet I've enjoyed reading many Nikita-centric stories (and have even written a couple myself!). So...include or exclude them as your plotbunny demands.
Spooks/MI5:
I fell very hard for this fandom about a year and a half ago, and devoured the episodes from the very beginning until I had caught up. I am now watching S8, so feel free to set whatever you write during any timeline you like.
What I like about Spooks is that there is no shortage of tough-minded and tart-tongued female characters. I've requested Ros or Juliet, and while those two are my favorites, I like the other characters, too, so feel free to include whoever seems to fit in your story! I'm not really a shipper in this fandom, but then again I'm also not opposed to any ships. I'm probably being less than helpful here, aren't I? *Flails*
Let me try a different angle: while I adore certain surface characteristics of these two characters (both of them are tough, ambitious, and prone to sarcastic one-liners), I also think there's a lot of depth to be explored. The series itself has done a good job of showing that with Ros (less so with Juliet), but there are all sorts of unanswered questions you could explore with either character: questions about what really drives them, what made them who they are, who they might become, etc. I'd love to see anything like that!
I hope this is helpful to you, and thank you again!!
