Fandom Meme

So! That fandom meme that's been going around: I wound up leaving comments in 3 people's journals, not really thinking that I would get tagged by all of them. (Oops!) While I did my answers in comments on the original person's post the first two times, I think maybe I should just go ahead and answer here! But this means I'm answering for 6 fandoms instead of 3.
The meme itself is as follows:
Comment to this entry and I'll pick three of your fandoms. Then, update your journal and answer the following questions:
01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
And my answers are:
La Femme Nikita:
1. I watched this show while it was originally airing, and although I was really into it, I was completely unaware of the existence of such a thing as "fandom". As a result, I missed the heyday of fandom activity. It was only several months after the final episode of Season 5 aired that I was wondering about a factual question about some episode (I don't remember what it was anymore), and I thought, "Hey! Maybe I can find the answer on the internet!" I did a search and stumbled upon the old Alberta Watson website (which had episode transcripts, reviews, and a message board), and I suddenly found myself among kindred spirits. I've been in fandom ever since, although I've (mostly) moved on from the message boards of that era and onto LJ now. But it was my first fandom and so I'm quite nostalgic about it, flamewars and all! (It was a pretty wanky fandom in many respects, especially for its size.)
2. I'll never really leave LFN, even as the fandom shrinks down to almost no activity. If anyone posts a story, I'll be sure to read it, and I'll probably dribble out ficlets (at least) as long as it looks like anyone else might be around to read.
3. Favorite canon: all of Season 2. It's darker than S1 but not as ridiculous as some of the later seasons; it has plenty of Madeline-heavy eps; it has perhaps my favorite standalone ep of the show (Old Habits); and I enjoyed the Adrian arc at the end quite a lot.
4. I read fic; I still plan to write more fic; and I'm the admin for what used to be considered an LFN fandom message board but is now more of a generalized fanboard for an actress. Strictly speaking, I also co-mod a fandom meta discussion board, but it has been moribund for quite some time now. I do still tidy up spam there now and then, though.
5. More people? Absolutely! I'm still running into new fans of the show here and there, and it’s always fun to meet them. One of them wrote a marvelous TR fic just recently, in fact, which I want to pimp right here!
Spooks/MI-5:
1. Several people I knew from other fandoms kept telling me (over a period of years!) that I would love this show. But because it was a little hard to watch (I don't have cable, and even on cable it only aired sporadically in the US anyway), it took me forever to get around to trying it. But then Netflix made the first two seasons available for instant online viewing, and I did a quick mini-marathon. I was only lukewarm about the first season (but hey, only six episodes, so why not go on to the second); by the end of the second I was interested enough to want to watch the other seasons -- and by the fourth season (when my favorite character made her appearance!) and fifth season (when, in turn, my second-favorite character made her appearance!) I was hooked and itching to write fic.
2. I'm planning to stay. The show is still in production (8 seasons, wow), and I have plenty of fic in my head, if I can ever find the time to write it.
3. Favorite bit of canon: I think the final episode of Series 4. Really clever (and twisty) plot idea combined with a wonderful guest appearance by an actress from another favorite show of mine (Rome). Somewhat undercut by weirdness in the opening ep of Series 5, but on its own, the ep was brilliant.
4. I read fic pretty voraciously (not that there's a lot being posted -- although I want to rec a new, wonderful, plotty one here!) and meta when I see it. I keep up mostly on LJ and ff.net, although there's also a message board where I (mostly) lurk and read spoilers. I'm in the process of writing more fic, as well.
5. Yes, I would love to see more people in this fandom! I think it's sadly neglected. And all those people who complain that there aren't any decent female characters on TV? Really deserve a withering put-down from the show's resident bad-ass, Ros Myers.
House:
1. That's the fault of the significant other, who started watching it and wanted me to keep him company. (He's to blame for LFN, too. Heh.)
2. As long as there is still a fandom, I'll stick around. I have a feeling that this fandom won't last long after the series goes off the air, though, whenever that may be.
3. I don't think I have a particular favorite thing in canon.
4. I've written a little fic and a little meta. If I do more, it will probably be meta. I have enough trouble keeping up with all the fic and meta being posted by others, to be honest.
5. I think it's actually as big as I would want a fandom of mine to get (which isn't very big: I like cozy fandoms, I think!)
Wicked:
1. It's fanfic's fault! I saw someone post an Elphaba/Glinda story somewhere on LJ, thought, "Ooooooh, this is interesting!", and as I had never heard of either the book or musical before, I was intrigued enough to go seek it out.
2. I'm really only a lurker now (I took a stab at one story, but while I'd like to write more, there are other fandom plot bunnies that pester me more and thus will get my attention first). I do expect I'll keep reading as long as people keep posting stories, though! I really only read bookverse fic, though, so that cuts out about 2/3 of what is posted.
3. Favorite bit of canon: the first book in the series, absolutely. I actually would have been satisfied without any sequels, although I'm happy enough to read them. I'm not a musical fan at *all*, so I don't get into that side of the fandom.
4. See #2.
5. Oh, yes! I try to pimp it where I can.
Alias:
1. It took me forever to warm up to this fandom! I was initially turned off when it first started airing because it struck me as a bit too campy, but the irresistible allure of Lena Olin eventually wore me down and I finally gave in. LOL. I'm fond of the campy side, now.
2. I'll keep a toe in, but it's not a primary fandom right now.
3. The season finale of Season 2, without any doubt. Among the best season finales of any show, ever!
4. I don't participate much, other than reading and chatting a bit here and there with other fans. I have ideas for fic, but my pairing and character preferences are frankly so odd, I don't think anyone would want to read them! (What I really want to write is Irina/Sloane, God help me.)
5. More people? Absolutely!
Kill Bill:
1. I don't remember! I didn't even like the (first) movie all that much when I first saw it, but somewhere along the way (before the second movie came out) I changed my mind.
2. I can't say that there really is much of a fandom to stay in, other than during Yuletide. But I read all the Yuletide fic for it every year.
3. I liked the first movie better than the second (I think I may be in the minority in that opinion).
4. I wrote one Yuletide story, but I'm not sure I will be doing more.
5. I'd love to see more activity, but I don't really expect it.
